Date 26th March, 2007, Time about 11 AM scene a bus stop in west Delhi.
Harjeet Singh was waiting for his bus. He had to meet his friend outside Gurudwara Bangla Sahib at pre-appointed time. He was blissfully pondering over that day’s hukamnama from Darbar Sahib. He saw that a bus stopped and an old person with a stick in his hands fell down on the road, as his foot must have slipped. Everybody was busy with his own mental schedules and nobody was thinking out to help him. Harjeet Singh could surmise that old person badly required help. Harjeet Singh also had a busy schedule but at that time he recollected first stanza of guru’s hukam.
man tan antar parabh aahee
har gun gaavat par-upkaar nit tis rasnaa kaa mol kichh naahee.
He followed the meaning as >
“Deep within the nucleus of his mind and body, is God.
He continually sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and always does good for others; his tongue is priceless.”
He instead of continuing his journey, helped that old person to nearest orthopedist and arranged help for his safe arrival to his home suitably. Timely help could get much relief to that old person and Harjeet Singh earned lot of blessings from old person and waheguru too. He was satisfied that with satguru’s blessings he could follow hukam in right spirit. Both friends met lately and during the return journey they discussed as to why he was so terribly late. He was still in bliss and was re-living those moments when he could sing gurbani and could do good to someone who badly needed it. There was no haume (ego) in his expression and he was forbidding his friend too not to discuss it here and there. That is why I have also changed his name in this blog.
I was very much impressed by his gestures. The persons like me simply read scriptures but this sikh gentleman taught me what is sikhi and how guru’s orders are obeyed.
